NorGlen Rhythmic Gymnastics is a non-profit organization that has been operating in Lakeview and the surrounding area of south Calgary since 1979.
We provide recreational rhythmic gymnastic classes for people of all genders and ages, 4 to 80+. Our emphasis is improving physical literacy and, most importantly, having fun and building community.
We are a non-profit organization and your fees are used to cover the cost of facilities, insurance and registration with governing bodies, coaching, and equipment. At NorGlen, all equipment is supplied for our intro level classes; gymnasts in performing groups may be required to purchase equipment and costumes.
As a non-profit organization, we require volunteers to make our club run smoothly. Parents/guardians will be expected to volunteer at one event throughout the year (eg. winter or spring show, chaperoning at an external event, fundraising, etc). We are also recruiting members for our Executive Board.

Physical literacy is the motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge and understanding to value and take responsibility for engagement in physical activities for life.
- The International Physical Literacy Association, May 2014
If we hope for children to be active throughout life, we need to support them to develop physical literacy at a young age. Rhythmic gymnastics offers children the opportunity to develop the motivation, confidence, appreciation for sport, and competence in movement that supports them to be active for life. According to Gymnastics Canada, early participation in gymnastics develops the most fundamental movement skills, physical and motor abilities, mental abilities, social and emotional abilities, and performance skills that carry over into all aspects of life. The development of fundamental movement skills and motor skills is critical to establishing the foundation for participation in many sports and physical activities. A child who has not had the opportunity to develop these basic motor skills experiences difficulties or barriers when participating in sport experiences, or later school-based programs that involve more difficult skills.
Norglen RG supports children and adults to be active throughout the lifespan by offering classes for preschoolers to seniors.
*All ages for classes are guidelines. The best interests of the gymnast and group will guide decisions on where to place an individual.
